Matt Sampson, who performs as Samp, was born in Joliet Illinois but was raise in the Quad City area of Illionis and Iowa. After many of early days riding in that old Cadi with his granddad, Joe Sampson who was also a musician, listening to oldies and to his granddads old stories about him and his music group back in the day. It was then lil Samp knew he wanted to make music.
