HK's art finds its roots in American abstract expressionism (1940-1950s). HK's paintings are meant to be visceral and messy, yet maintain varying levels of coherency through color, line weight, and composition. For full effect, the work is often best viewed at a distance.
HK regularly uses handwriting and lettering to inform mark making; thus, the work can also be associated with Asemic writing. HK graduated from Skidmore College in 2012 with a B.S. in Studio Art.
