"I started painting by accident about 5 years ago when I was in a craft store and picked up some paint and canvas paper for something different to do in my spare time. Once I realized that I really enjoyed it and friends and family were actually giving me compliments, I decided to answer a call for art in connection with a nonprofit fundraising art exhibit and silent auction. To my delight, my painting was selected for the exhibit and also printed in the nonprofit’s next calendar. Last year, I was approached by an affiliate of the nonprofit to prepare a new piece that’s now part of a travelling art exhibit through the State of Texas. I’m excited to be currently working on my first commissioned request. I’ve been painting mostly for family and friends and I hope to eventually begin selling my artwork in a new business venture with my artistic son and daughter-in-law." - Donna
