Sergey Areshev (born in Tbilisi, Georgia) is a retired army colonel and sports photographer based in Moscow. Photography has always been a fascinating subject to him. After leaving military service in 2012, he has been working as a freelance photographer focusing on sports for some European agencies, but Sergey mostly prefers the feature side of sports photography. He tries to photograph sports in a special way, to create something more than just documentary reportage images, to make sports photography a little more artistic.
Recent accomplishments among many others include selections by the Paris Photo Prize (PX3), HIPA and World Sports Photography Awards, as well as Excellence Award from the Federation of European Photographers (FEP). Sergey was selected as a member of judging panel of the 35awards in 2018. His work have been exhibited worldwide and featured in several publications. Beyond the lens, he is almost a famous expert on Armenian brandy and Georgian khachapuri.
